Abstract

André Laks was born in 1950. He studied in the École Normale Supérieure and at University of Lille 3, in France, where he was disciple of Jean Bollack and, for many years, tought Greek and Ancient Philosophy. He was also professor at Princeton University from 1990 to 1994 and from the Sorbone from 2007 to 2011. He was member of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin at 1999/2000 and of the Institut Universitaire de France from 1998 to 2008. Currently, he is professor at Universidad Panamericana, in Mexico. His main interests are: the Presocratics, Plato, Aristotle, History of Ancient Thought and Hermeneutic Theory. Together with G. W. Most, he edited the fragments of the first Greek Philosophers. It will appear, simultaneously, in two bilingual editions, in French, published by Fayard, and in English, published by Harvard University Press, in autom 2016.
