Abstract

In this text I discuss some arguments presented by Diego Rosales on the objectification of Modernity over the person and about his proposal of a rationality based on empathy. I claim, that it is necessary to reconsider the importance of economy in a more important way than Diego Rosales does, as one of the factors that made modernity a model based on instrumentality. At last, I want to point out that an empathic proposal of rationality does not leave behind subjectivity as the central aspect –even that it is in the form of intersubjectivity– of rationality and, thus, that it is insufficient to overcome instrumental rationality.
