Existentialism, Authenticity and Difference as Concealment of the Other, according to René Girard
Abstract
This work studies René Girard in the context of contemporary philosophy, in which he maintains his denunciation of the romantic lie opposed to the novelistic truth, and of the failure to recognize the violence of the scapegoat mechanism and its real victims. In this sense, Girard criticizes existentialism and the so-called thought of authenticity and difference, attributing to them the concealment or masking of the other as a mediator and model of desire or violence, as victim or executioner, ignoring the intersubjective mimicry that he attributes to the human condition and to subjectivity itself.References
