Edith Stein, Patron of Europe. Meditation on Philosophy as Testimony
Abstract
I am going to argue that ‘giving a testimony’ in as much as it points to philosophical and religious truths in specific manner is a pillar of European identity. Through this detailed analysis of the act of ‘testifying’ I pretend to describe some aspects of the philosophical and religious relevance of this phenomenon, trying to demonstrate its essential relation to philosophy. In the end I hope to give a better reformulation of the question: in which sense exactly ‘testifying’ is an essential element of ‘being European’.References
